Instructions

 

* Packet Pickup:

Expo Location- Hilton Universal City 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, California, United States 91608

Expo Hours- Thursday April 4th: 12pm – 7pm & Friday April 5th: 10am – 7pm

-Feel free to dress up in a nice suit or dress as if you’re attending the Oscar Awards in Hollywood. Make it fun =)

Expo Parking- Parking will be available at Universal Studios Hollywood / City Walk for a fee of $15

Bib Number  – Look up your number here:  (Bib # Assignments)

Timing Chip - Your timing chip will be affixed to the back of your bib. Please do not remove it.

5k/10k Packets & Half Marathon Packets must be picked up at the Expo.

Packets may be picked up for a friend, family member, or co-worker with a copy of the Participants ID. (text photos ok)

THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY BIB PICKUP UNLESS PRE-PURCHASED (This Option is sold out)

*If you pre-purchased race day packet pickup, your bib will be at the Timing & Solutions Tent near the starting line.

 

* 5K / 10K:

Start Time- 6:00 am – 5k / 10k Start (The sun begins rising at approximately 6:30 am)

Starting Line- Hollywood Blvd between Highland & Sycamore. 6801 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028.

Finish Line- The 5k/10k will finish on Vine Street between Hollywood Blvd & Sunset Blvd. 1615 Vine St. Los Angeles, CA 90028

Restrooms- Restrooms will be available in the staging area (See Attached STAGING AREA Map )

Awards- All participants will be given their medals at the finish line.

 

* Half Marathon:

Start Time- 6:00 am (The sun begins rising at approximately 6:30 am)

Starting Line- Hollywood Blvd between Highland & Sycamore. 6801 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028.

Finish Line- The Half Marathon will finish on Vine Street between Hollywood Blvd & Sunset Blvd. 1615 Vine St. Los Angeles, CA 90028

Wave Starts- The race will begin in wave starts from fastest to slowest. Please enter the corrals based on your estimated finish time / pace. Pacers will be provided by USA Marathon Training. View Starting Area / Corrals

Awards- All participants will be given their medals at the finish line.

 

* Star Kids Run:

Location- At Half Marathon START LINE.  6801 Hollywood Blvd.

Ages- 5 – 8 years of age. Parents may accompany their children.

Start Time – 6:30am Start. Course runs approximately 1200 meters along Hollywood Blvd to Vine St.

Kids will check-in at the start line to receive their bibs and goodie bags.

 

* Parking / Directions:

There are three options for participants to get to the Start Line.

  1. Park near the Start Line at the Hollywood & Highland Center or any public garage.
  2. Parking near the Finish Line  public garages. (See Attached RECOMMENDED PARKING LOT Map )
  3. Ride the Metro to the Start Line.

Expect heavy traffic on race morning due to thousands of participants all trying to reach the same area. Please carpool if possible, plan to arrive early, and follow the designated driving directions.

Race Start Time: 6:00 am

PARKING NEAR THE START LINE - Hollywood Blvd & Highland Ave.

Participants are able to park near the Start Line at the Hollywood & Highland Center (6801 Hollywood Blvd.) or any public garage.  All parking lots in the area are privately owned and charge fees of $10-$25 cash. There is no free parking for participants or spectators.

 

PARKING NEAR THE FINISH LINE - Hollywood Blvd & Vine St.

Participants are able to park at any public garage near the Finish Line (1615 Vine St.) All parking lots in the area are privately owned and charge fees of $10-$25 cash. There is no free parking for participants or spectators. (See Attached RECOMMENDED PARKING LOT Map )

If you plan on gear checking your bag, parking at the Finish Line is recommended since the Gear Check area is located at the Finish Line at Selma Ave & Vine St. 6304 Selma Ave. Los Angeles, CA (See Attached GEAR CHECK Map ) The Start Line is approx .70 miles from the Gear Check/ Finish Line area.

 

RIDE THE METRO 

To avoid parking costs, ride Metro to access the Start Line. There is a “red line” Metro stop at Hollywood Blvd. & Highland Ave and also at Hollywood Blvd & Vine St. near the Finish Line.

  • Leaving North Hollywood Red Line 4:31am first train
  • Leaving Union Station Red Line 4:30am first train
  • Trains run every 15-20 minutes

* Shuttle Service:

For guests staying at the Universal Hilton – Click here to RESERVE YOUR ROOM

Shuttles will be provided from the Hilton Universal to the Starting Line and back to the Hilton after the race, from the hours of 4:30 am – 9:30 am. Participants are required to show their bibs to board the shuttles.

If you wish to take the Red Line back to the Hilton, a One-Way Red Line pass is $1.50. From the Finish Line, enter the Hollywood Blvd & Vine St. station and exit the Red Line stop at the Universal City Red Line Station - Lankershim Blvd & Universal Terrace Pkwy.

 

* Gear Check:

Gear Check will be provided near the Finish Line Zone located at the corner of Vine St. & Selma Ave. – 6304 Selma Ave. Los Angeles, CA (See Attached GEAR CHECK Map ). Gear Check will be made available starting at 4:30am race morning until 12:00pm.

*All clothing that is left after 12:00pm will be donated to the Los Angeles Youth Network. Please note: DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. HHM is not responsible for any lost items.

Each participant will receive a draw string bag at the Health & Fitness Expo which will serve as your gear bag on race day. The Gear Check area will be arranged alphabetically. Attach your gear tag to your bag before leaving it with the Gear Check crew. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the designated Gear Check area.  Participants will only be allowed to use the bag given at the Health & Fitness Expo for Gear Check. All other bags will not be accepted.

 

* Water / Electrolyte Replacement Stations

Water and Gatorade will be available at the following stations:

  • Mile Markers 2/12 – Water & Gatorade
  • Mile Markers 3/11 – Water & Gatorade
  • Mile Markers 5/7 – Water / Gatorade / Clif Shot Energy Zone
  • Mile Marker 8 – Water & Gatorade
  • Finish Line – Water & Gatorade

* Starting Wave Groups / Corrals:

A Wave Start will be incorporated in the Hollywood Half Marathon & 5k/10k. Both the Half Marathon & 5k/10k participants will be assigned in the same corrals at the Start Line based on running pace. Each event distance will have “split signage” and course marshals to indicate where the three races will split / turn on the course.

The Starting Line Corral system ensures a smooth race start for the multitude of participants at varying experience and fitness levels. Runners will be assigned a race number and corresponding wave # /corral based on the estimated finish time provided on the race entry form. Runners will be grouped in the corral with participants of similar running pace. Please stay in your recommended wave group in the starting corrals for your safety.

 

* Celebrity Etiquette:

Just remember, celebrities are there for the same reason you are… to run. Please don’t expect them to stop for a picture or autograph while running. Use discretion when the time is right and remember to be polite. Handshakes and hi-fives are better than hugs after a run.

 

* Spectator Zones:

Top 3 locations to cheer on your friends and family members:

1. Hollywood Blvd. – Start and/or anywhere along Hollywood Blvd.

2. Sunset Blvd. – Between the 3200 block through 4400 block of Sunset Blvd.

3. Finish Line on Vine St. – On Vine St. between Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd.

 

* Merchandise:

Official race merchandise can be purchased at the Expo and Finisher Zone.

 

* Awards Ceremony:

Star Medals will be awarded at the finish line. Age Division Awards and Prizes will be presented at the Finisher Zone Awards Stage at Vine St. / Sunset Ave. – 1503 Vine St. Hollywood, CA.
